Our story

highlander soul

As Father Tischner, the famous highland priest, once said: “Cym co prowdziwse, tym urodziwse!” (the truer, the more beautiful), and we are living proof of it! This historic building dates back to 1865. It took its present shape in 1994, when Jasiek Zatorski “Sieczka” and his friends turned an old sopa (a barn, in the highland dialect) into something new. Be sure to see what the very first party looked like: the “evidence” is waiting for you right by the entrance.

A well-known highland double bass player and his wife Maria started a place that every local in Zakopane has heard of. It was all about music: the host was one of the musicians behind the legendary, Fryderyk award-winning album “Namysłowski z góralami” (Namysłowski with the Highlanders). Their first big success was a performance at the Jazz Jamboree festival, followed by concerts in jazz clubs all over the world.

The tradition lives on. Sopa’s current owner, Masia Zatorska, an artist herself, and her husband Łukasz Kobylarz make sure every day that the inn is a true home. Not only for highland music, but also for excellent food!

Playroom

where children play endlessly

Every child has their own world. So we created a space where all kinds of fantastic worlds can safely meet. Masia filled the playroom with beautiful, charming paintings, Łukasz picked the books, poufs and mats, and finally, together with their own children, they added loads of toys.

If any young guest fancies a nap, a comfy sofa is waiting. And the bathroom for little ones? You simply have to see it 🙂

The playroom is monitored!
